Day 004

I made a plan to run with a friend at about 6. In the night, my alarm clock died and I woke up at 6:09. Eleven minutes later, I was at the park and fully awake. A short trail run later and my day had officially started.

The Good:
Running with good people is always fun
The birds were very vocal this morning
Nice, easy pace

The Bad:
K fell (but no serious injury): not a good way to intro trial running
Damn alarm clock
Running before breakfast is a little tough

The Funny:
The power ballads we got stuck in each other's heads

Day 003

Up by six, out by seven: not quite as early as I want it to be, but it's moving in the right direction. This was a hard run. I wasn't just wasn't feeling it.

The Good:
Until the end, it was just me and the birds
Worked on form and cadence

The Bad:
Had to wait an extra half hour before heading out for my stomach to settle
Breathing is hard to regulate when concentrating on cadence

The Grey Area:
"Damn Lizard Brain"

Day 002

Ran with J. Met at W park and ran the trails to 5.

The Good:
Having someone to talk to
Slept in and ran in the morning
Another fairly minimal set up: Garmin and Road ID

The Bad:
Sleeping past the alarm
Not as energetic as I'd like
[Maybe next time I'll do another lap after]

The Ugly:
My toe

Day 001

Today was the first day of my 30-day running challenge: Run, at least a little, every day. I thought it wasn't gonna happen when I got home late last night and slept in (with alarm resets) this morning. But after yoga, I kept my shorts on, changed the rest of the way as soon as I got home, and was off and running.

The good:
The park was beautiful
The tall grass smelled wonderful
Laid in the grass for a few restful moments between the trails and the paved track loop
No watch, no phone, no water: just a key an iPod, and earphones

The bad:
I need a solid running playlist
I sprained/jammed my middle left toe in yoga a couple hours before the run
(It nagged, but mostly in a numb kind of way)

The meh:
Last minute crapshoot run paid off
ran long after lunch and before dinner
